Working Together for a More Inclusive Society
The Society for Disability and Rehabilitation (SDR) was established on 6th February 2026 with a vision to transform the way disability is understood and addressed in India. Moving beyond the traditional individual-centered approach, SDR recognizes that disability is shaped not only by personal conditions but also by the physical, social, and cultural environments in which individuals live. SDR is a registered organization under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (XXI of 1860), with Registration No. Ahmednagar/0000043/2026. Founded through the collective efforts of its members, the organization is driven by a shared commitment to inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity for persons with disabilities. Over time, SDR has established itself in the areas of participatory action research, social development, grassroots-level services, advocacy, and policy engagement. The organization works to bridge gaps between individuals, communities, and institutions, ensuring that disability is addressed as a societal concern rather than an isolated condition. Our team comprises counselors, educators, researchers, and community integration professionals who bring diverse expertise and dedication to the field. Together, we strive to create meaningful and sustainable change by improving the conditions that affect the quality of life of persons with disabilities and their families. SDR carries out its initiatives with the support of public sector undertakings, private enterprises, government ministries and departments, as well as national and international donor agencies. Through collaboration and innovation, we aim to build inclusive communities where every individual can thrive with dignity and independence.
